Waiting Day 8

A pretty much uneventful day here in Moscow. No visit with Tyler and pretty much nothing to do. It was snowing this morning when we got up and the sidewalks have become a real mess. With temps a little above freezing yesterday, there is water everywhere and it is all starting to freeze. Add two inches of snow on top of that and we have a mess. Crossing any street requires jumping the icy puddles. Of course nothing slows down the Muscovites as they are all out driving and walking like usual.

We did walk up to the Marriott Grand today to make some copies of our passports and registration papers. You would think making copies is easy, but there are no Kinko’s, Staples or Office Depots in Moscow. We figured that the easiest thing to do was to walk to the Grand and use their business center. We went in, sat down in the lower lobby and Maria headed into the business center and got the copying done.

As we passed by the TGI Fridays, Jeff was wondering if they had Miller Lite and a bar with American sports on TV. Somehow, we doubt it. Restaurants in general don’t serve many beers and Jeff has had to drink Heineken and Corona. TGI Fridays can wait for another day.

We are heading to Lauren and Marco’s apartment for dinner tonight. We are looking forward to a nice home cooked meal and a dinner with our friends. We will be sharing stories, pictures and videos all night.

Tomorrow is a milestone day . . . it will be the half way point 12 nights down and 12 to go. We will be on the last half of the trip! Over the hump! On the down hill side!

Talk to you later!

Maria and Jeff

Hey guys

Pretty uneventful day..but not for long. The 1st half of the trip is probably the longest. Once you pick up Tyler on Tuesday the days will be so much more eventful and fly by. Can't wait to see you guys soon!

I recommend Siberian Crown beer. It is really good! When we were there for both adoptions that was a staple when we went to the grocery store. Most restaurants serve it as well.

Don't know what restaurants you have visited and are looking for new ones but we suggest Mama Zoya's (a boat on the river), Yolki Polki (not sure if that is the right spelling) and Matroushka's.

Have fun!

I suggest purchasing a travel scrabble set. We bought one once when we got bumped off a flight to Hawaii and had a ton of time to kill. Might also be fun to play with another couple. Just a suggestion.

Hi! The good news is that you are almost there!! I can almost feel that feeling you have right about now. I am looking at possibly a week in region (super boring) and 5 or so days in Moscow (much less boring depending on the weather). We did get tentative court date of 3/5 which is great news!

Regarding the beer, We own a microbrewery, so we will just have to stash some of our beer in our suitcase. Actually my husband enjoys trying the intl. beers, although none compare to ours!

Take care!

I will try to bring with me the warm Rostov weather. We hit 50 degrees F, a few days ago. It has been getting colder, but still not near as cold as you have. Cant wait to see everyone.

You're over half-way there! It sounds like you're making the most of the time in Moscow and it's terrific that Lauren and Marco are there too so you all can hang out!
